Foliage
Adult leave are elliptical, glossy dark green on the upper side and a dull green on the underside, up to 15 cm long and 4.5 cm wide. Juvenile leaves are soft and hairy.

Bark
Ornamental. Rough and scaly basal bark, tends to become scaly. Light grey-brown in colour. Shedding of the upper trunk gives way to a smooth, pinkish-cinnamon to orangey-brown.

Ornamental Fruit
Capsules, narrowly wedged-shaped, with three valves enclosed, more or less to rim level.

Tree Habit
Usually symmetrical with good form. Generally grows with a straight, single trunk and produces a dense conical crown.

Flowers
White, up to 4 cm in diameter, with stamens united into five feathery bundles. Axillary cymes of seven flowers. Flowers appear during late spring and summer.
