Foliage
juvenile leaves are green to slightly blue-green, opposite and sessile, ovate to cordate in shape and up to 10 cm long. The large adult leaves are green, alternate and lanceolate in shape and up to 19 cm long.

Bark
mostly smooth throughout with the exception of some fibrous, flaky brown bark over the first two metres of the lower trunk. Yellowish in colour with some blue-grey and cream patches.

Ornamental Fruit
Large barrel-shaped seed capsules with four to six valves enclosed are formed after flowering.

Tree Habit
A medium-sized spreading tree, with a rounded crown and slightly pendulous branches. Can grow slightly more bushy than other forms.

Flowers
Colours can vary from commonly large white flowers, often pink and more rare a dark red. Flowers late winter to early summer.
