Heart shaped leaves emerge with a hint of soft reddish-pink, but quickly mature to glossy, vibrant green, leathery leaves. Leaves turn yellow-orange in autumn.

Ornamental Fruit
Overseas literature refer to pendulous flat 'bean'-like pods, 40-80 mm long. These pods appear after flowering and are purple in colour. Not observed in Australia to date.

Abundant rich magenta 'pea'-like flowers that bloom along the branches in spring time, before the foliage emerges.
