    Glossy, deep green foliage is triangular to ovate in shape, becoming golden yellow in Autumn.

    Highly ornamental bark changes colour as the tree ages. Three year old wood is grey-orange, orange-white at six years and the mature trunk is white.

    An aggregate of small winged nutlets, known as a strobilus.

  • Flowers

    Male and female flowers are separate on the same plant (monoecious). Male catkins develop in late summer and remain on the tree through winter. Female catkins appear in the leaf axils in spring.
