Thick, glossy, dark green leaves appear somewhat scorch resistant and become butter-yellow in autumn. Short internodal lengths create a densely foliaged tree.
Bark

Mature bark exfoliates in large, creamy-white sheets. Underbark ages to salmon-brown and cinnamon. Highly ornamental.

Small winged nutlets borne in a pendulous 'cone' (strobilus) that sheds in autumn.
