Foliage
Phyllodes are a dull, dark-green leathery with prominent longitudinal veins up to 12 cm in length and 3 cm wide, narrowing at both ends. Juvenile foliage is bipinnate.

Young bark is green and as it ages it becomes hard, fissured and grey-brown in colour.

Ornamental Fruit
Pale brown seed pods up to 12 cm long are often strongly twisted and curved and split open to reveal hard black seeds with red funicle.

Pyramidal when young, becoming broadly rounded with age.

Flowers
Produces clusters of pale creamy-white flowers arranged in fairly large globular flower heads from late winter to late spring (July through to October). Can have a slightly sweet fragrance.
