Wes Fleming OAM

Wes Fleming is a third-generation nurseryman. More importantly however is Wes’ drive, passion and vision for a future where our urban environment is our societies Number 1 priority.

Wes is passionate about the value of trees, especially in context of the Urban Environment. Wes has taken his profile as a tree expert as an opportunity to speak broadly on this topic for many years. Wes has spoken to many industry groups, at seminars, councils, education platforms and many others highlighting the importance of trees in our urban environment and getting the balance right.

Under Wes’ guidance Fleming’s has also been behind many initiatives just some of these include:
KinderGarden – putting the garden back into kindergarten. This project focussed in creating natural play spaces for children and coupled with researchers from Deakin University showed behaviour and learning changes in children.
The Chelsea Flower Show – Australian Garden Entries (2004 – 2013)
The Fleming’s Student Design Competition. This competition ran annually for many years at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show and required landscape design students to design and construct show gardens at the show

Wes’ passion and commitment has seen him bestowed with many industry awards and in 2017 the very honourable Order of Australia Medal for his outstanding services to the Horticulture Industry and to Landscape Architecture.
