Fresh home grown Asparagus spears are one of the most satisfying crops to be harvested in the veggie patch. For best results plant in well drained soil, allow to grow for one summer season, autumn prune and harvest from July. New Asparagus spears (shoots) begin to emerge in spring. Harvesting should be done each morning as spears grow very fast. Ideal length is 100-120mm.
