Well, it had to happen soon - Today it rained! Some of the dust turned to mud and we all got to wear our raincoats for a few hours. The curved deck is progressing really well thanks to Ponty and Hammo. Andy had a chance to get some lights into position and the rocks started going into the gabion baskets. We also had the chance to get some of the shrubs into position.
Only 3 more days to get this garden finished, but still lots of work to do!
Friday 16th May 2008
Still a work in progress...
Saturday 17th May 2008
Today is all hands on deck - not much time to get lots of stuff done and it’s made very clear that putting plants in is much more important that taking photos!
Sunday 18th May 2008
The garden is really nearly finished - bent water is up and running, the decking is oiled and the plants are in.
The judges come through tomorrow and we have quite a bit more work to do before then - rest of the stone needs to be sealed, leaves polished, ponds skimmed and everything made to look perfect before the queen visits tomorrow afternoon.
Monday 19th May 2008
Today was media day and a chance for all of us to relax a little and enjoy the finished garden.
The judges have been and made their decisions, now all we can do is wait until the morning when we get to site to see what medal is on our sign.
Tuesday 20th May 2008
Wow! A Gold medal! Exactly what we had all been working towards for the last 12 months.
The day was such a roller coaster of emotions - from nervousness, anticipation, excitement, celebration and exhaustion, all had a place today.
Well done to all of the team involved in the project - from the crew in London, to those who supplied materials and support but were unable to make the trip.
Thanks also to everyone who has sent messages of support.

Just some general shots of the finished garden today...
