Wes Fleming and Gabriella Possum Nungarrayi will be available to interview and discuss her work and Fleming's Chelsea Flower Show entry designed by Jamie Durie.
Famous indigenous artist, Gabriella Possum Nungarrayi, has been commissioned to create a unique work of art to feature in the Fleming's and Trailfinders Australian Garden at this years Chelsea Flower Show . Gabriella finished the work late last week and is available with Wes Fleming for a very unique interview in front of the completed wall which will form part of the overall garden design. Gabriella leaves to return to the Northern Territory on Thursday and the works will be packed and shipped to the UK next week (with three shipping containers of materials required to build the garden).
Jamie Durie asked the world famous artist to prepare her work on the 20-metre wall that will feature along the length of the garden. It is the longest work she has ever done and she agreed to do so in memory of her late father (Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri) whose work hangs in Buckingham Palace. The Flemings and Trailfinders Australian Garden at Chelsea will be visited by the Queen and other members of the Royal Family – which will be a tribute, Gabriella says, to her late father and his exceptional talent.
This press call is timely in relation to national 'Sorry Day' and is a further symbol of the Australian culture coming together as we move forward from this momentous time in Australian history. It is also a great celebration of the unique Australian creative talents of Jamie Durie, Wes Fleming and Gabriella Possum Nungarrayi.
